Magritta Armchair - Gufram

Magritta, designed by Roberto Matta in 1970 for Gufram, is an armchair-sculpture that pays tribute to Surrealism. Inspired by the dreamlike imagery of René Magritte, it merges the symbols of the black bowler hat and the apple, reinterpreting them in a world where perception and scale are playfully distorted. The oversized hat and apple, handcrafted in soft polyurethane, interact with the viewer in a delicate balance between irony and sophistication. Covered in wool bouclé, this piece perfectly embodies the fusion of art and design, standing as a timeless icon of surrealist creativity and Italian radical design.
