FOUNTAIN PEN M 129417, LIMITED EDITION STEVENSON - MONTBLANC Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, Robert Louis Stevenson ardently desired two things: freedom and the escapism of plunging into another world. He wrote essays and travel tales, as well as his legendary adventure stories populated by extraordinary characters whose names sent shivers down readers' spines worldwide: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Hyde. The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson is dedicated to this highly creative storyteller. Many decorative details of this edition draw inspiration from the novel "Treasure Island." The overall shape of the writing instrument, combined with rings on the cone, recreates the effect of a historic extendable telescope. The body in exquisite black resin is adorned with engraved crosses, including a larger "X" similar to the one used to mark the position of treasure on a map. The cap of the Writers Edition is decorated with vertical lines reminiscent of the panels of the schooner "Hispaniola" and a traditional chest. Behind the platinum-finish clip, the lines converge to create a compass rose, while the clip reproduces the shape of a belaying pin to which the ship's rigging is secured. The top of the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem, adorned with the pirate symbol - a skull and crossbones - raised in the center. The cap ring is engraved with Stevenson's signature and the publication date of his first work, "The Pentland Rising," in 1886. The birth and death years of Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) are engraved on the cap. In tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson's passion for sailing and his choice to move to the South Seas, the solid 18K gold nib with rhodium-plated finish is handcrafted and bears the engraving of a delicate wave motif and the name that the Samoans gave to the great writer and globetrotter: "Tusitala."
